the package insert of the medicine Ezetrol. Active principles ezetimibe.
Your doctor has prescribed EZETROL TM to reduce the amount of cholesterol and triglycerides in your blood. Cholesterol is one of several fatty substances found in the bloodstream. The total cholesterol is made up mainly of LDL-cholesterol and HDL-cholesterol.
The LDL-cholesterol is often called “bad” cholesterol because it can deposit in the walls of the arteries forming plaques. Eventually, these plaques can cause narrowing of the arteries, which can reduce or block blood flow to vital organs, like the heart and brain. This blockage to the blood flow can cause heart attack or stroke. The HDL-cholesterol, in turn, is often called “good” cholesterol because it helps prevent the deposit of “bad” cholesterol in the arteries and protects against heart disease. Triglycerides are another form of fat in the blood that may increase the risk of heart disease. If you have sitosterolemia, your doctor has prescribed EZETROL TM to reduce the levels of steroids vegetables in your blood.
